LIVE (Live Interactive Video Education) Arts is now accepting submissions for guest artists for our 2023/2024 season broadcasts. Emerging and established artists are encouraged to apply.

LIVE Arts is a dynamic distance education arts program designed for Saskatchewan students in Grades 1 through 9. LIVE Arts supports the Saskatchewan Arts Education Curriculum and is delivered via the Saskatchewan Ministry of Education LIVE Network (CommunityNet).

LIVE Arts allows a variety of professional artists to connect simultaneously with teachers and students in multiple schools across Saskatchewan for a LIVE experience in arts education. Teachers register for a grade-specific broadcast on the website, where information is available about the guest artist, discipline, grade level, date, and time of each broadcast; teachers can also access guides for each broadcast and additional educational resources. The series for the full school year is designed to include programs in the full spectrum of art forms as well as the work of Indigenous artists and programs conducted in French. LIVE Arts produces over 30 broadcasts annually (typically four broadcasts per program; each program is delivered over the course of two days in a school setting).

We are contracting eight Saskatchewan artists to collaborate with our Program Coordinator to plan four, 45-minute arts education workshops for elementary school students, including a written guide for teachers. Artists will then present their workshops in a live broadcast. Workshops are presented over two days on location at a host school, and broadcast dates will be determined in the near future.

Each guest artist will be compensated for two planning days and two presentation days (in accordance with CARFAC rates) as well as travel, accommodations and per diems (where required) for the presentation days.

LIVE Arts hopes that these broadcasts will speak to the diversity of artistry and artists that exist in this province (including artists outside urban settings, Indigenous, People of Color, Deaf or disabled, 2SLGBTQ+, Newcomers to Canada, programs delivered in French, etc.).

Guest Artist selections will be based upon diversity, artistic experience, the viability of proposed workshop ideas and the availability of the artist.

As this program works with youth populations in schools, a criminal record check will be required from any successful applicant.

Applications will only be accepted through the following form. Emailed submissions will not be accepted.

LIVE Arts is supported through the collaboration of SK Arts, Government of Saskatchewan Ministry of Education, and SaskCulture with financial support from Sask Lotteries.
